Kogitsune Helen (Helen the Baby Fox)a trailer of the most touching movie i have ever watched, Helen the Baby Fox. Enjoy the trailer everyone.oh. and just for your information, you need to first hit stop on your internet browser to stop the background music before hitting play on the trailer so that the clip's audio doesn't clash with the background music.it is really a good movie, trust me, i cried my eyes out, as did all the other people in the cinema. although it's no longer showing in cinemas here and the tickets are probably too expensive, i am definitely securing a copy of this when the dvd/vcd comes out.
Here is the story synopsis to make the trailer clearer to those who do not understand Japanese... although whatever is said in the trailer is really easy to understand even for people with Japanese as lousy as mine. :P
(from dvdactive.com)
From director Kohno Keita comes the heartwarmingly cute tale, Kogitsune Helen! Also popularly known by its alternative English title Helen the Baby Fox, this moving 2006 motion picture revolves around the life of a young, friendless boy who comes to learn some important lessons about life when he adopts an abandoned, physically disabled animal. This breathtaking film takes place in early spring in northern Japan, as seven-year-old Taichi (played by Fukusawa Arashi) finds himself forced to leave his urban home and relocate to a veterinarian's (Osawa Takao) rural Hokkaido household when his camerawoman mother ventures off on a whirlwind photo shoot assignment.
Having just recently arrived from the big city, Taichi soon discovers an adorable fox pup lying near the side of the road. But cute as it may be, the animal is in sad shape, as it is not only deaf and blind, but mute as well. Although a majority of the adults who surround Taichi voice their objections, he resolutely chooses to take care of the pitiful creature and name it "Helen Keller." Feeling a bit neglected himself in his new environment, Taichi will soon find that his newfound guardian role will end up teaching him a great deal about the responsibilities that parents face and open his eyes to the hardships invovled in his own mother's stuggle to make ends meet for the both of them. Based on a true story of Taketazu Minoru, who is involved in wildlife conservation in Hokkaido, this hugely charming tale of a boy and his fox is sure to touch the heart of even the most jaded filmgoer!
and here is just a random picture... i so love helen. :)

i tried doing some translation too, and i posted this on amaranthia. thought i would put it up. note that my japanese sucks though, so this is just what i could understand. during the movie i was viewing the subtitles all the way. :P
starting --> Taichi, the main lead, says (this is purely guessing) that this spring, 'I' learnt how it is like to have a child / be a parent, something along that line.
Taichi says to the baby fox "are you waiting for your mother as well?"
The young girl comments that it is a rather quiet and tamed fox.
The vet claps, and the young girl says "It is deaf and blind?" (i think)
The vet says "This is just like a replica of Hellen Keller" (you know, the girl who was deaf and blind, and was being taught and guided by mrs. sullivan/suvillian)
Taichi names the baby fox 'Helen', after Helen Keller.
The vet hands Helen over to Taichi and comments about how living on is actually a form of prolonged suffering for Helen. (i think)
Taichi grabs the vet and say "aren't you a doctor? aren't you supposed to save lives?"
Taichi dreams of meeting his mother, and cries out "Mother!" (Oka-san means mother)
The vet asks Taichi -- " You think that Helen can get better by finding its mother?" (or something along that line)
(I can't catch what Taichi says in reply here, sorry. >_<) Taichi finally manages to get Helen to drink milk, and exclaims happily "it's drinking..." The vet comments to Taichi's mother about Taichi's role as Helen's mother and how they should learn from him. (i think) Helen calls out for Taichi. (Helen is deaf and blind, so it actually does not have a voice because it doesn't know how to make any sounds at all. it only calls out to taichi and taichi alone) Taichi begs the vet to save Helen (in the movie, this is after the scene where Helen suffers greatly and Taichi is put through a short period of similar suffering) opps, i was unable to catch the vet's voice here. sorry. >_< i gather it's about how memories of Helen will always stay.

leaving amaranthia...
i just announced my departure at amaranthia.com.
nostaligia sweeps over me and flood my senses. i've been posting there for more than a year and i have made many many many close friends there, friends who i will trust way more than many people i see and interact with in real life. there is trust between us and we're a great big family. i wonder if they will miss me when i'm gone. of cos, i won't be gone for long. i think i will end up going back to post with every chance i've got as i slowly steer myself into my 'hard-core mugger' mode. oh well.
the place has become an 'online home' for me, so to speak. it is the site that i want to dedicate myself to permanently. i love the joy of being able to help people and chat with people, which should explain why i was more than happy to write a walkthrough for Aveyond with the help of my online friends rather than write one for my utmost favourite game in the world, Genso Suikoden II.
i am so going to miss my darlings over at the site, maybe because i've already become a true-blooded amaranthian and can no longer detach myself away from the place. i can't wait for a's to end, so that i can go back to the forums to be actively interacting with my friends and people who need help again. after a's. after a's. the possibilities are endless, and limitless.
after a's, after a's......................................

news update
news update: turned out it wasn't a glass mug, but rather a glass bottle. which makes it worse. -_-*****
and turned out there were 3 victims. the third one was another middle-aged woman, and she suffered light scratches and injuries from the flying glass shards, and was not admitted to the hospital.
the culprit is still at large. to the hell with you; DIE!

what the hell?
bloody shit. i was watching the ge tai show downstairs tonight, since 8 pm, with my aunt, uncle and my aunt's brother. (i know i know, not supposed to be watching ge tai at this juncture) and what the hell. some singaporeans really disgust and irritate the hell outta me.
okay, so what happened was that many people were watching the ge tai and as usual the ge tai was really noisy, loud with music and singing and stuff. somewhere around 10:30 - 10:40 pm, someone living in the block of flats beside the stage threw a glass mug down. A GLASS MUG.
it landed right on an old lady's head. SPOT ON. AND SHATTERED FROM THE IMPACT. the old lady bled profusely, and shards of the broken glass shot into another middle-aged woman's EYE. both were sent to the hospital shortly. the poor old lady was like what, at least 60 years old? and the other victim was around 40. Everyone was shocked by what happened, and the show that night was cut off half way. it turned out that the swine was irritated by the noise produced by the show, and then he/she flung the mug outta the window into the hundreds of unsuspecting audiences. i mean it. i was there and i estimate that there were at least a two to three hundred people gathered there to watch the show.
The host, who is also a singer, said out loud (it happened so fast that nobody knew who the culprit was) to the bloody piece of shit (okay, the host referred to that thing as 'friend/buddy', and i guess calling that thing shit would be an insult to shit itself) that whatever he/she done was really too much, that should he/she find the volume too loud there was always room for negotiation. (furthermore, it is legalised to carry on the show until 11pm) by doing that, he/she has caused injuries to people, and hurt other people along the way. whatever his/her intention is, he/she would not be able to sleep peacefully tonight. he also apologised on behalf of the organisers to the audience. one thing he said was right -- that bastard/bitch will not be able to sleep peacefully tonight.
around half an hour ago, when i first started typing this entry, the police had already started preliminary rounds of investigation. no arrests are made as of now, and i think i will stay awake and watch what goes on from here. (i'm lucky i slept for a bit in the afternoon)
seriously, is that thing like brainless or what? what happened to the basic morality in human beings? are we really fellow homo sapiens? luckily, i still saw the desire to uphold justice in many people as the crowds of audience continuously scolded and cursed the culprit til no end. i was so tempted to start a network right there and then so that when the police finds out who the culprit is, we can all go and bash the shit outta him/her. okay, so violence is not the solution. maybe we'll spit on him/her then. my aunt was commenting how one spit per audience was more than enough to drown the culprit and make him/her die.
i can't describe how angered i am by what happened. i can't believe that there are actually people like that living in my community, people who are intentionally doing things to cause injuries and unhappiness to other people. i hope that the ghosts and spirits, i.e. our 'good brothers and sisters' will see to it that the culprit receives no less than what he/she really deserves as retribution. then of cos, there is law, the legal punishment. let's see what may happen.... he/she may be jailed, and/or fined, and/or his/her flat will be confiscated and he/she may be denied any future possibilities of ownership of any house. best if all of that take place. and i still do not think that that is enough at all. he/she should really be completely condemned for having that kinna mindset, to easily and freely hurt other people as and how they want just so for their own convenience and 'well-being'.
really, the stupidity of people. what the heck is happening to singaporeans?
okay. i know this may not only happen to singaporeans. but i guess this loss of values and morals is becoming more and more evident in many many young people. my guess is that the culprit dwells in the flat with the nice white door and windows, because
1) the windows were shut tight
2) the house looks completely sparkling new, modern-looking and well-furnished compared to other flats (maybe young owners who are superficial about appearances of houses)
3) there was no evidence of any forms of religious beliefs unlike the case of many other units in our society (people who are devoted to religion normally uphold postive moral values, or are afraid/mindful of kharma/retribution)
man i really hate to be so vulgar and everything but i guess that's one of the very limited ways in which i can vent my overflowing anger. watch out you culprit, you single-celled organism, if i ever manage to get near you, that's it fer you man. you're so going to die. even if i can't whack the hell outta you, you can be sure i will be cursing you as in with real curses until the day your evil-doing fades from my memory, or until the day you receive your rightful punishment. to the hell with you. SWINE!!!!!!!!
